Summary judgement

Summary judgement Meaning

A decision that is reached based on statements and evidence but does not involve going to trial is called a summary judgement. It is a ruling that cannot be appealed and was made by a judge in an effort to settle a legal dispute outside of court. An application for summary judgement might be made during the proceedings if one of the parties feels that it has a case that is preponderantly more convincing than the other party's. A party is essentially able to achieve summary judgement if it is able to plainly establish that its opponent does not have any actual chance of success in the action. This is one of the requirements for obtaining summary judgement.

Law books

Law Tutor's books are a comprehensive collection of legal notes adapted to the needs of the SQE assessment specification, the CILEX qualification framework, and the University of London's LLB curriculum, and are produced by a former law lecturer and barrister. The law books, on the other hand, are valuable for anybody studying law at any institution or taking the LLB, SQE, CILEX, PGDL, GDL, or UOL law examinations.
