Res judicata

Res judicata MEANING

There are a few different legal theories that try to preserve this essential element, the most prominent of which is known as "res judicata." A res judicata is a decision that disposes of a matter decided in such a way that it cannot be re-litigated by those who are bound by the judgement, except on appeal. A res judicata can be given by a judge or a tribunal that has jurisdiction over the cause of action and the parties. A res judicata decision can be appealed.
