Quash


Quash MEANING

A request to have a prior judgement or procedure declared null and void is known as a motion to quash. This request may be made to a court or to another kind of body. The rules of a given court or tribunal will dictate how exactly motions to quash may be used in legal proceedings. A application to quash are used in certain circumstances to make a request to have a decision that was reached by the same court or a lower court overturned. A common occurrence in the judicial review is a decision that has been made by a public authority may be overturned by obtaining a "quashing order."
