Parol
Parol MEANING
In contract disputes, the term "parol evidence" refers to any agreement that is not included in the formal contract. Certain agreements established outside of a contract are inadmissible in court under the parol evidence rule unless there is proof of fraud, duress, or mutual error. The parol evidence rule states that, where parties have a written agreement, it is typically not permitted to introduce extraneous evidence to demonstrate the parties' purpose in entering into the agreement. This includes contradicting, altering, or adding to the terms of the written agreement; this includes implicit terms.
