Onus probandi
Onus probandi MEANING
The burden of proof (Latin: onus probandi) is the requirement to offer adequate evidence in support of your assertions. For instance, if someone asserts that god exist, it is their responsibility to present evidence to support this assertion. Considering this is a criminal trial, the Crown has the exclusive responsibility or burden of proving the accused's guilt. This burden lies on the Crown for every ingredient or essential fact constituting the alleged offence.
