Law Lords
Law Lords Meaning
Law Lords described the judges who sit on the Appellate Committee of the House of Lords. Up to the 30th of July in 2009, the judicial duties of the House of Lords were carried out by the Law Lords, who are highly qualified and function as full-time judges. On July 30, 2009, the House of Lords completed its last round of appeal hearings and handed down its decisions. The House of Lords no longer serves as the highest court of appeal in the United Kingdom. This is now the Supreme Court. Its time in that position has come to an end. The principal responsibility of the Law Lords was to serve as judges on the Appellate Committee of the House of Lords and on the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. This responsibility was shared across both committees.
