I.R.A.C. Method

IRAC METHOD meaning

When giving advice to a client in a practise situation, you could have come across many techniques or formulae that might be useful. The IRAC method is one example, while CELO is another. IRAC is an acronym that generally stands for:

Issue
Rule
Application
Conclusion

Using IRAC system of “Issue, Rule, Application, Conclusion” is the perfect structure for legal analysis. The IRAC format is an effective structure for essays or problem questions, which is used by law students when learning how to give advice in mock scenarios. By following this IRAC structure allows a law student to separately consider the “issue”, the “rule” that underpins it, the “application” giving advice, and a “conclusion” which is delivery of the advice for each and every issue and sub-issue identified as a legal problem. The “Fact Law Sandwich”, a pretty similar method.
