Approved

Approved meaning

The term "Approved" is generally used to refer to a decision or judgment that has been formally accepted and ratified by a higher authority. For example, if a lower court makes a ruling or decision, that decision may be subject to review by a higher court or appeal tribunal. If the higher authority agrees with the lower court's decision, it will be "approved" and considered final. Essentially, in the context of a UK court, "Approved" signifies that a decision or judgment has been reviewed and accepted by the appropriate legal channels, and is now considered legally binding. This act may also be referred to as judicial approval.

Example of approved

The orthodox view states that conventions’ main function is to regulate the exercise of prerogative powers. Dicey believed that the primary function of most conventions is to prescribe or limit the way in which a prerogative power is used. Per Dicey’s definition (approved by the court in GCHQ and De Keyser’s), the Royal Prerogative encompasses powers descended from the Crown’s original plenary authority which, while still legally exercised by the monarch, are now by convention exercised by the executive. To the extent it may be said that there are ‘categories’ of prerogative power.
