The individual who is being accused of committing a criminal offence. A person is said to be "accused" of a crime if they have been arrested for it or officially charged with it. It is the standard term for the person who is accused of committing a crime in a legal proceeding. Also it can be a person or persons who have been accused of committing a crime and are now being judged for their guilt in a court process.
